It happens to me every year…. Cabin fever!
The facts are I live in Michigan and I hate being cold. I blame it on the fact that I was born in California yet raised in Michigan.
But there is something mysterious about photographing in the part of the year here in Michigan that I like to call dead pretty.
The faded hues and the structure of nature before spring blooms is a perfect backdrop to style the unexpected.
You may have noticed in the past year or so my design in the boutique, the fashion we carry, and often my images are very west coast inspired. Well it has been an inspiration for years but in the past 2 years I have been making extreme changing toward doing more and more of what inspires me. It is very empowering to do what you want. I highly recommend it.
So these recent images have been my take on a Michigan version of boho style on the California coast. In this shot of Cassidy, the pastel colors of the back ground and her clothing blend yet she has such a bold presence. I loved finishing the look with this necklace for a statement piece.
I drive by this little cabin a few times a week. It only now stood out to me when I pictured it as a little northern California cabin. Perfect for styling Jaden in this loosely layered outfit. The hat was a must to accent her eyes!
We ended our session in town and this shot was just so simple that all we needed was amazing hair, a choker and one powerful look by Jaden.
